Literature: DOMUS, no. 513, August 1972, illustrated.
In 1972 Guido Drocco and Franco Mello designed the famous Cactus. Meant to be an ironic totem, it embodies the design ideas and humour in design at the beginning of the 1970s. This iconic object can be used as a wardrobe or as a decorative design element/ sculpture.
Made from flexible polyurethane foam, the Cactus is soft and without thorns. It has long been a design classic and is shown in the most renowned art and design museums throughout the world. The production is completely hand-made by Gufram. Each of the 2,165 tips that characterize the surface of the Cactus is manually touched up by skilled workers and later given Guflac, a colour coating patented by Gufram.
Excellent condition, apart from some tiny loss of paint at the bottom of the stem.
