Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was a celebrated Milanese architect and designer, widely regarded as a master of Italian modernism. Born into a family of architects, he studied at the Politecnico di Milano and became a leading figure in postwar design, working with major brands such as Cassina, Artemide, and Oluce. Magistretti’s innovative use of new materials and technologies resulted in iconic pieces like the Maralunga sofa, Eclisse lamp, and Maui chair, which won him multiple Compasso d’Oro awards and international acclaim. His work is characterized by minimalist elegance, functionalism, and timeless style, making him a key influence in global design history.
