A pair of 'Lady Chairs', designed by Marco Zanuso. Italy, Arflex, 1951.

A pair of original 'LADY' lounge chairs designed by Marco Zanuso for Arflex, Milano. The chairs are upholstered in vintage black wool material. Brass coloured legs. Seat height 36 cm. This chair design was awarded the Gold Medal at the IX Milan Triennale, in 1951.

Marco Zanuso (1916–2001) was a pioneering Italian architect and designer, celebrated for shaping postwar Italian modernism. Educated at Milan Polytechnic, Zanuso opened his own studio in 1945 and became a leading voice in design as editor of Domus and Casabella magazines. He championed new materials and industrial production, collaborating with Arflex to create iconic pieces such as the Lady armchair and Triennale sofa. Zanuso also co-founded the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI) and partnered with Richard Sapper on innovative furniture, lighting, and appliances. His work, recognized with multiple Compasso d’Oro awards, remains influential in design history.
