OX CHAIR & FOOTSTOOL by Hans J. WEGNER, Denmark 1980's
Lounge Chair and Footstool designed by Hans J. Wegner. Denmark, Erik Jørgensen, 1980's.
Vintage Ox Chair with footstool in recent green wool upholstery and tubular steel frame. Originally manufactured by A.P. Stolen, each Ox Chair was custom-made and upholstered with wool. The chair remained in production for only 2 years. In 1989, Wegner turned to Erik Jørgensen for a better construction method. Drawing on his upholstery expertise and inspired by a visit to the Italian tyre manufacturer PIRELLI, Jørgensen proposed using foam rubber for added comfort. The Ox Chair was relaunched at the Milan Furniture Fair and became a great success.
